| Bio: | IC NAME: Jareth FANDOM: Labyrinth AGE: Though he has been alive for a indeterminate but definitely long time, visually Jareth appears to be in his 30's. ALIGNMENT (GOOD, EVIL, NEUTRAL): Jareth plays by his own set of rules. While he tends to think that he is fair if nothing else, he is not above manipulation and using his powers for his own amusement. BRIEF BACKGROUND SUMMARY: Ruler of the Goblin kingdom for an extrodinarily long time, Jareth has always been very mysterious about where he came from before that. If he even existed before that, few are around anymore who can remember when and how he came to power. The truth of the matter isn't even really known to Jareth himself, because he long ago decided to leave the past in the past and focus on his own very odd kingdom. He plays by his own set of rules, as evidenced by the way that he bends time and space and even logic on a whim, but he chooses to believe that his intentions are always good, it's the question of who they are good for that is left rather ambiguously. Despite the length of time spent as Goblin King, or perhaps because of it, Jareth has long viewed it as sometimes boring, often mundane work. He thinks no one is on his level, and often finds himself surrounded by creatures he views as idiot. Because of this, he likes to take to owl form and fly in the Aboveground, and it was there that he saw Sarah Williams. She changed his life entirely when he saw her, though it was not love at first sight or any sort of love for that matter that motivated his actions. Instead it was something in him responding to something that he saw in the young girl, some indefinable thing that made him begin that made him begin to make the unprecedented moves toward contacting her. Though he didn't know why, he became fascinated with her, and he caused several items to appear where she might find them and want them. He was careful, that they were small things, that they appeared to be lost things or simple trinkets for sale, but he still saw that she found each one, and it made him think more of her each time she picked up the items he left and wanted them. And then she wished her brother away and changed everything. He thought it a sign that she was ready to admit that she was far more than the life she had been born into, but he was wrong. She wasn't trying to surrender her previous life in exchange for something else, she wasn't trying to be the extraordinary creature that he knew she could be, she was throwing a childish tantrum. Persistent, he challenged her to solve her labyrinth. He thought that she would fail and in the process see that what she was fighting for so desperately didn't matter in the least, and again he was wrong. She solved his labyrinth, she ignored the fact that he had done everything she wanted of him, and in the end she choose to return to her ordinary life with her simple family and be a child. But he didn't give up on her; no, Jareth persisted even after that, motivated now too by his bruised ego. She had turned his own mindless subjects against him, she had solved his labyrinth, and she had literally turned his world upside down. He checked in on her from time to time, making sure that she was well and happy, and he held on to the knowledge that one day she would realize that she was destined for far greater things.
